Voice Teachers

Performing:
As a lyric-coloratura soprano, Kim has performed roles
in numerous operas including Josephine in HMS Pinafore,
both Dewfairy and Sandman in Hansel and Gretel, and
Knitter #1 in A Game of Chance. She has also learned
the roles of Nella in Gianni Schicci and Queen of the
Night in Die Zauberflöte. Her musical theater experience
includes the shows Into the Woods and Little Shop of
Horrors. In addition to operas and musical theater,
she has also been featured as the soprano soloist in
Poulenc's Gloria, Haydn's Missa Brevis, and Benjamin
Britten's Ceremony of Carols. She has also sung major
choral works including Britten's War Requiem, the Bach
Magnificat, and Carmina Burana by Carl Orff. She was
also awarded recognition honors two years in a row at
the National Association of Teachers of Singing vocal
competition.
Education:
Kim
received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance
from the Petrie School of Music at Converse College
in May of 2001. She also received her Master of Music
in Vocal Performance from the University of Colorado
at Boulder in May of 2006. It was during her Master's
degree where she studied with Patrick Mason for "Repertoire
and training for young voices" (ages 5 and up.)
She has an extensive education in vocal pedagogy, including
anatomy and physiology of the larynx and breathing mechanisms,
vocal exercises and techniques for vocal improvement,
and over twelve years of her own private voice training
including the degree programs.

Teaching Experience:
Kim has been teaching privately for many years. She
also taught for two years through the University of
Colorado's Applied Music Program. Her students have
ranged in musical styles from Pop to Opera, R&B/Soul,
and have spanned ages from 7 to adult.
She really enjoys helping her students to express themselves
and their love for music through singing. She inspires
her students on many levels and helps them to learn
healthy vocal technique to aid in broadening their expressive
musical tools.
Her students and parents love the fact that she likes
to tailor her classes to the individual student knowing
that most students have specific needs. Kim looks forward
to every lesson with passion and enthusiasm and enjoys
teaching all ages, levels and voice types. Kim also
records portions of the lesson onto a provided cassette
tape for the students to use at home.

Musical Theater, Pop, Rock, R&B, Folk, Country,
Jazz and Children's.

Performing:
With a strong musical theater background, Thalia has been
seen in roles such as Eponine in Les Miserables, the Narrator
in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Serena
in Fame. Most recently, Thalia was seen as a Nurse and the
cover of Liat in South Pacific with Colorado Light Opera.
Theater credits include Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream,
Rosalind in Moon Over Buffalo, and Lettice Protheroe in Murder
at the Vicarage. She has also performed in numerous opera
choruses including The Marriage of Figaro, Hansel and Gretel,
Die Fledermaus, and The Magic Flute. Thalia was featured as
the soloist for the Glory of Christmas concert with First
Presbyterian Church and was also a featured soloist in Mozart's
Laudate Dominum and Brahms's Neues Liebeslieder Waltzes. She
has sung in the master classes of Tom Enman in Salzburg, Austria
and Elizabeth Mansfield in Boulder, Colorado.
Education:
Thalia graduated with
high honors from The University of Colorado where she earned
her Bachelor of Music Degree in Voice Theater. She also spent
a summer in Salzburg, Austria studying voice through the University
of Miami Frost School of Music. She has studied with voice
teachers Patrick Mason, Susan Williamson, Charmaigne Coppom,
Curt Peterson, Valerie Goodall, Mary Schiller and most recently,
Julie Simson. Thalia also studied piano for several years
with teachers such as Bill Munson and Fernanda Nieto-Pulido.
At CU, Thalia was a member of both Sigma Alpha Iota, the international
Music Fraternity for Women and CMENC, the Collegiate Music
Educators National Conference.

Teaching
Experience:
Thalia has been teaching
privately for over 5 years. Her students have ranged from ages
5 to adult and have had interests in all styles of music, from
musical theater and opera to rock and pop. Thalia has also been
involved as a music director and choreographer for Fort Collins
Children's Theater and as a practicum assistant at Southern
Hills Middle School, working with a 7th and 8th grade mixed
choir. Thalia is passionate about giving every student the chance
to learn about healthy singing, musicality, dramatic interpretation,
and languages. Thalia's students have fun and love how she helps
them bring out their own self-expression, confidence, and creativity
through singing. Parents love Thalia's versatility in teaching
all ages and different styles of music.
