Larry has been playing drums since 1975, and has performed in several types of bands including Rock, Top 40, R & B, Country, Dance and Original.  He is also a music recording engineer and has worked with many groups including the "Atlanta Rhythm Section" and "Hank Williams Jr."

Education:

Educated at the Drummers Collective Institute (D.C.I.) 1977-1980.  Located in Manhattan, New York under the guidance of world renown teacher Michael Lauren.

Teaching Experience:

Privately teaching since 1980.
Drummers Institute of Georgia - Kennesaw, GA 1992 - 2003.
Mars Music - Marietta, GA 1997 - 2000.
Music and Arts School of Music - Roswell, GA 1996 - 1999.

Larry has been providing drum set and snare instruction privately for over 27 years. He and his student each play on their own drum set which aids in the learning process.  Larry also focuses on the art of using "approaches" to convey particular ideas and concepts to his students.  This is an excellent tool used to enable the student to better understand and retain what is taught during the lesson.

In any given lesson, emphasis is usually placed on: technique, rudiments, theory, ear training, time keeping, performing skills, adapting to different styles, and feels.  To help apply what is learned, time is always spent during each lesson to playing along with music using his personalized CD's which are also complementary to the student. In addition to using CD's, Larry also records portions of the lesson onto a provided CD for the students to use at home.  He assists his students in preparation for music college entrance evaluations and helps to prepare students for local drumming competitions as well.  He is fluid with several styles of playing and enjoys teaching people of all ages.

Larry will assess each student's strengths in learning and adapt his teaching style accordingly to fit their needs.  He takes a lot of pride in both playing and teaching, and it shows in his work.  His motto is "Having fun doing what you love is the key to success."  Larry is also soon to release his comprehensive method book: "Chasing the Drum."
