Performing:

Eric has performed professionally in Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia. He spent four 4 years in various ensembles at the University of Alabama and also played numerous private and public functions throughout the region. He has played in masterclasses with Giacomo Gates, Frank Vignola, Gene Bertoncini, and John Adams.

Education:

Eric holds a B.M. in Jazz Studies from the University of Alabama. He has taken private lessons with Musicians Hotline columnist Jeff Beasley, Jazz Ambassador Tom Wolfe, and renowned jazz educator Jerry Coker.

Teaching Experience:

Eric has five years of private teaching experience at the Guitar Gallery in Tuscaloosa, AL. His studio, which included 30+ students, ranged from beginners to more advanced students in areas including but not limited to theory, harmony, jazz harmony and composition. Eric takes a fresh approach with each student, allowing them to work on what excites and inspires them. He will tailor a lesson plan exclusively for the student and excels when it comes to showing a student several different ways in which to understand an idea. He wants every student to feel comfortasble with what they are working on, and encourages them to raise any and all questions they may have about their current curriculum.

Performing:

With 25 years of guitar, mandolin and bass playing experience under his belt, Bill has gigged extensively, including tours of Europe, the Middle East and the United States. He has toured and performed with local artists Danny Shafer, Aquarian Voodoo, Pete Kartsounes, Haywire and numerous others. He currently plays with local singer/songwriter Daniella Katzir, the Pete Kartsounes Band and local banjo hero Kane Hollins.


Education:

Bill studied music theory, performance, composition and improvisation at Berklee College of Music and Naropa Institute under the tutelage of such luminaries as Art Lande, Mark Miller and Jerry Granelli. He received his BA at the University of Colorado. He has attended numerous master classes featuring the likes of Chris Thile, Peter Rowan and Ronny McCoury.

Teaching Experience:

Bill has over 10 years of teaching experience, both privately and through music schools. He had a long stint teaching with the acclaimed Americana Music Academy in Lawrence, Kansas where he guided students of all ages and ability through their musical journeys. He has taught a large number of private students as well. Bill's teaching philosophy is that anybody can excel in music with the proper guidance. In his years as an instructor, Bill has come to recognize that different people require different teaching approaches. His lessons focus on the individual student, with emphasis on what the student wants to accomplish and how the student learns.

Styles taught:  Rock/Metal, Blues, Bluegrass, Ragtime, Folk, Reggae and Pop.
